Carl Louis returns with psych-pop gem "Portal to Happiness"
Norwegian producer Carl Louis is back with his bright psych-pop number "Portal to Happiness", which also acts as a first taster of a new EP due for release later this year.
Louis' new track opens with swirling cosmic synths that fade into a psych-pop anthem that could've been constructed by Kevin Parker himself. The woozy guitars slide playfully over the vibrant electronica as Louis unveils his vocals, which dance seamlessly with the psych-infused instrumentation.
"Portal to Happiness" is his first release of 2020, following on from his 2019 LP Silent Solider. The new track sees Louis find a balanace of past and future, his echoing vocals and percussion embracing the futuristic, layered electronica before plunging into the euphoric chorus.
Discussing his new single, Louis says, ""Portal to Happiness" is about being in the moment. Going to that place inside you where time doesn't exist. For me that place is both happy and sad at the same time."
