Call Me Loop turns a petty break-up into a tongue-in-cheek pop gem on new song "Silly Boy"
After smashing her performance as part of Best Fit's Five Day Forecast, Call Me Loop returns with another shining emblem of pop mastery.
On "Silly Boy", the rising pop maverick is so unimpressed, you basically hear her eyes rolling to the back of her head. With a series of punchy lines and plenty of witty quips, Call Me Loop turns what could be a sad break-up situation into an endlessly playful track that bounces along a tik-tok beat that virtually jumps out the speakers and demands you take note.
Call Me Loop's ability to cleverly turn what could be a cliché into a - at times hilarious - and relatable account of a casual relationship going all wrong is mesmerising and makes her even more likeable and this is all whilst she seamlessly injects plenty of earworm melodies and an infectious chorus into the mix which further drill their way straight into your sub-conscious.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, the Surrey-born singer says "I wrote 'Silly Boy' after getting 'dumped' from a non-relationship relationship - you know one of those ones where it was meant to stay casual but then wasn't casual anymore so the person who was desperate for it to stay casual freaks out and ends it. I was pretty gutted and frustrated at the time, but I wanted the song to be a bit playful and tongue-in-cheek, focusing more on the 'silly' immaturity of the guy than the sadness of it ending. And backing myself that he'd come crawling back (side note - he didn't... Awkward). But yeah, I guess you can't really ever be that sad over something that never properly started in the first place."
The track is taken from Call Me Loop's highly anticipated new EP, entitled Drama, which is due to be released on 8 March and, if this is anything to go by, it should be another solid collection of vibrant, infectious pop wonders.
