Originally hailing from the disparate locales of Austria, Italy, France, and Mexico, the now-London based quintet Cairobi synthesises a melange of styles as impressive as their geographic pedigree.
The group's latest single, "Zoraide", kicks off in a world-beat vein but quickly slices that through with bright, bulbous dollops of psyche-guitar strums, a sonic red herring for the lyrical laments of enduring a poisoned relationship.
The accompanying visuals follow suit, dousing the band in a kaleidoscope of colours and playfully - or, perhaps, grotesquely - warping them with fun house mirror effects.
Cairobi's The Distant Fire is out 23 February courtesy of Week of Wonders and can be preordered here.
