Cailin Russo introduces herself with jazz-inspired debut "September Rose"
LA-based Cailin Russo shares the stunning self-penned debut single "September Rose".
Russo has been surrounded by music all her life as the daughter of Unwritten Law frontman Scott Russo. But it's been her time in the spotlight thus far which seems to have really driven the 22-year-old to create her profound jazz-inspired sound. Starring in a couple of Justin Bieber music videos, amassing a social media following and cutting her teeth as a model, her Instagram is worth a follow, but her music is most definitely worth a listen.
The singer/songwriter's debut is "about a young love relationship happening and isn't working because it's not the right time" - as Russo states, "roses don't grow in September." In terms of sound it's hard to categorise, and while the nods to jazz are clear, Russo's eclectic taste has taken her down a path of incorporating influences old and new. She's a big fan of Drake, and his pop-R&B is drawn upon, but perhaps the most interesting element of Russo's "September Rose" is the soulful quality to the Californian's voice.
