Brooklyn artist Julius unveils human extinction-inspired R&B cut "Roads" [Premiere]
Brooklyn producer Julius is sharing his new track "Roads", featuring Kaerhart, on Best Fit.
Inspired by the aftermath off humanity's extinction by robots, the track teeters between warmth and desolation. Julius, an award-winning classical prodigy with plaudits from the New York Times and experience working with Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang, has instead erred towards pop as time's gone on. Drawing influences from the dramatic Kanye opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Julius summons symphonic R&B with aplomb. It's grand, visionary and vast - not one for too much subtlety, "Roads" sees Julius dabble in romantic strings, vocoders and post-apocalyptic trauma-pop.
Speaking about the track, Julius said: "I've been inspired by the world's smartest thinkers who say that artificial intelligence is going to surpass human intelligence this century and could quickly (in a matter of days or hours) bring about the extinction of all humans. Kaerhart and I wrote Roads together to capture what it would be like to be the last two people on earth for a brief moment."
