Listen: BROODS – “Never Gonna Change” (Lone Remix)
Having recently released a water-drenched video for the slow-burning, heavy hearted “Never Gonna Change”, New Zealand’s Caleb and Georgia Notts, AKA BROODS, have enlisted Lone for remixing duties.
The producer gets rid of the track’s glacial tone: a theme that runs right through to the artwork that depicts the siblings as ice sculptures. Lone heats up the atmosphere, bringing in iridescent synth stabs and a low-end, grimey bassline, transforming its contemplative mood into a sticky-floored club song. Georgia’s mellifluous vocals sit atop Lone’s characteristically tropical production wonderfully, making it stand out as a song in its own right.
With there being a more watchful eye on New Zealand’s music scene after the success of Lorde, there’s no doubt that BROODS seem set to follow, especially having already worked with “Royals” producer, Joel Little.
Broods EP is out on 31 March. Listen here.
