Broen dazzle with delirious funk odyssey "You (Detective)"
Norwegian quintet Broen cut the ribbon on wobbly new soul-pop jam "You (Detective)", the second track from their upcoming debut LP.
The track follows lead cut "<3" and continues Broen's spellbinding expedition into the depths of pop. Shimmering synths and bubbling bass squirm beneath Marianna Røe's vocal gloss, luring you into their world of experiments before knocking you flat with a delirium-fuelled psych-soul freakout at the end.
"We all had the need for a new music that was freer and inviting to all different kind of influences," explains guitarist Lars Ove Fossheim. "The music really emerges from the different backgrounds we all have, but with the same desire to create something that is free from boundaries. We are influenced by everything from Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar to Talking Heads and Paul Simon. Interplay and improvisation are important parts of our writing and playing - it keeps the music alive."
The group are set to perform at Oslo's Øyafestival this summer.
