Brad Stank brings a sleazy-cool dose of “sexistentialism” on “Kinky Visitation”
“Kinky Visitation”, the new track from Heist or Hit signee Brad Stank, is confirmation that he is a master of the sultry slow jam.
Following the release of his 2018 debut album Eternal Slowdown, Brad Stank (real name Bradley Mullins) spent 2019 working on himself. Profoundly affected by the loss of close friends, Mullins used creativity and music to give him a renewed purpose in a world that had drastically changed. This period of self-reflection has combined with his typically seductive song-writing to create a track that can only be described as “sexistentialism”. While singing of the pain he feels at the beginning of the song, the "visitation" is shown to be Mullins and that his own happiness lies within himself.
In his own words, Brad Stank says: “Howdy dear The Line Of Best Fit readers, it’s me, your new friend B. Hope you like my new single, 'Kinky Visitation', a song about a night I received a visit from a sultry angel, who awakened and inspired me to follow the way of the Kinky Om; the eternal and loving sound of the universe. Peace! And remember: I love you because you’re me.”
The song itself is a woozy bedroom pop classic full of engaging contrasts and the smoothest of beats throughout. The song is brought to life in the chorus as the calm of the velvety verse makes way for soaring effect-laden guitar lines that elevate you to a different plane. Mullins brings a luscious and intoxicating feel - something especially impressive considering his rigorously stripped-back instrumentation.
Paying homage to inspirations such as Marvin Gaye and D’Angelo, Brad Stank has created something truly worth getting excited about. After a difficult period in his life, he has returned stronger and with a sound to match.
