Bonnie Doon tell the story of a ghost riddled pub on huge track "Haunted Life"
Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, four-piece Bonnie Doon produce murky, party-inspired surf-pop.
Bursting with whoops, yelps and roaring bass, their latest track "Haunted Life" tells the story of a ghost riddled pub underneath a converted hospital near the Bonnie Doon jam space.
"We’d go to DJ nights there and all the bartenders would be on pins and needles talking about a recent ghost sighting of an orderly or a nurse pushing a cart past the kitchen,” bassist Lesley Demon explains. There's certainly a creepy vibe to the sauntering, three-minute offering, as thudding percussion acts as the steps of the undead while the urgent calls of Demon hark back to the horror movies of yesteryear.
The visual stars artist Matt Miwa – who regularly performs as a dancer with the band – and was directed by Demon herself. It's a captivating, quirky video that ties in with Bonnie Doon's ability to think outside the norm and laugh at the world around us, even when it seems to be crumbling.
"Haunted Life" is taken from last year's brilliant album Dooner Nooner, with the band heading out on tour in support of the record.
