It’s hot, and it’s Friday. To celebrate, here’s a hazy, summer track from Blu‘s recently released j e s u s. Some background: j e s u s is a free record that one suspects really irritated Warner, who have been waiting for Blu to get around to finishing (or maybe even starting) his ‘official’ full-length for what seems like years. Instead, he’s been producing for other people and putting out tracks on Bandcamp.
But Warner’s annoyance is our gain, as j e s u s is chock full of hits, including ‘d o o w h o p’. Alchemist‘s Wizard of Oz-esque production is characteristically great, but it is Planet Asia who is the surprise star here, with a excitable flow that brings to mind Style Wars-era Jay Electronica.
