Blu DeTiger unveils January blues-busting pop-funk new cut “Vintage”
New York City native and TikTok sensation Blu DeTiger is back with latest single “Vintage” ahead of her debut EP How Did We Get Here?, set to drop next month.
Since picking up the bass-guitar at just 7 years of age, Blu DeTiger’s musical journey has continued to grow from strength to strength. From DJing in NYC clubs at 17 to touring alongside fellow trailblazers Caroline Polacheck, Fletcher and The Knocks, DeTiger continues to storm the music scene with her effervescent style. Still only 22, DeTiger has built her following through social media, quickly becoming a TikTok sensation, using the platform to dazzle her audience with bass-heavy content.
Carving a path of her own into the industry, Blu DeTiger follows on from viral single “Figure It Out” with “Vintage”, the bass-playing superstar's latest funk-driven bop. Primed and ready for the spotlight, her latest offering captures the perfect blend of funk and disco. Thanks to her expert knowledge of the bass, the track is dominated by engulfing ear-worm riffs. Keeping the single fresh, DeTiger uses synths while still holding down its throwback-feel charm, a fitting blend of the old and the new.
Her smooth and effortlessly cool vocals piece together the track's inspiration as DeTiger puts her own spin on dating norms. DeTiger explains: “I sing about needing a 'vintage boy' - not to take me out on the town or to make me feel special - but to be an accessory to my sick outfit."
"Usually the perspective is from the guy, who has a girlfriend as his arm candy. In my version, the girl is still the main character. The song is meant to empower, along with highlight the characters that I often run into in New York City."
Directed by Kevin Lombardo, the visuals for “Vintage” offer an authentic insight into the landscapes of the city, as DeTiger shines with her eclectic style and enviable bass skills.
