With their debut EP set for release next month, Stockport’s Blossoms have unveiled the record’s second single, “Madeleine”.
The track’s soaring psychedelic hooks and crooning vocals prove more than a little contagious. Echoing drumbeats and ghostly organ refrains make for a sound that proves almost too alluring.
Ethereal twinkling adds to the band’s magic and mysticism, whilst guitar solos that wouldn’t seem out of place in a classic rock anthem showcase a darker – and heavier – side to the outfit.
Haunting and hypnotising are two things Blossoms take in their stride, weaving their melodies around their listeners until there’s practically no escape. Not that we mind.
Blossoms are set to perform at Purple Turtle in London on 5 April. The band’s debut EP, Bloom, is set for release on 12 May via RIP Records.
