After “Between Times” set the internet alight, with much justified hype and The Cure comparisons, Sheffield band Blessa have unveiled another delicate piece of shoegaze in b-side “Bloom”.
Much like fellow attention-grabbers Wolf Alice, it’s a hypnotizing mesh of thoughtful guitars and Olivia Neller’s melodic vocals with the mellow-pop Midas touch of Veronica Falls. It even has a clever miniature bass breakdown halfway through. It’s hugely promising stuff from the Northerners. A delicate gem of a track that flourishes like a mellifluous flower in Autumn’s gloominess.
