Vermont enigma Black Fly returns with "Dipped"
Black Fly seems to be an enigma, with little more than a “Vermont artist” biography, however new release "Dipped" shows us he’s here to stay.
His music speaks for itself; past release "Sign 2" caught our attention, leaving us keen to hear more. "Dipped" does not disappoint.
The new release takes up the same stroke of darker electro pop as "Sign 2", but with an unique vocal and track pairing. The beginning of "Dipped" is intense, sounding like the start of a set in some Berlin club; it booms and fizzes with deep bass, danceable synths, and crisp drumming. When his vocals come in, the song takes a softer turn and reflects on the movement of time.
Opening with the line “things are a changing once again” the song's lyrics have a tone of universality to them. If "Dipped" and "Sign 2" are any prediction of things to come, Black Fly has found the right algorithm and we should all be paying attention.
