Burrow into Bearcubs' nocturnal electronics on "Chroma"
The British summer might be extending its stay with balmy September days but Bearcubs' latest cut is to soundtrack the evenings drawing in.
The title track off Bearcubs' (real name Jack Ritchie) second EP dropping this November, "Chroma", is an enveloping listen of metronomic ticks, spliced samples and Ritchie's soulful hush.
Despite its early taut rhythms, the song's coda is set loose, awash with waterlogged synths and drowning calls of "let down your hair/let down your heart".
"Chroma's" dark overlay and slow, shuddering pulse beckons hibernation - even if we're not quite ready to let go of the summer yet.
Chroma EP (pre-order) is released on 4 November via All Points.
