Bayou flexed his dreamy electronic muscles, musically speaking, with the release of his recent debut EP, Loopback. It turns out he held back some of the goodies, with a wonderful bonus track called “Speedboat”.
The London producer jumped into the currently crowded electronic-soul/pop waters last month with Loopback, which showed that he had enough craft and enough tunes to rise to the top of that particular pool. “Speedboat” continues in a similar vein, opening with an aching piano line over which Bayou, aka Hari Ashurst, arches with an introspective, beautifully simple vocal line. Underneath, the sound of the stuttering snare and 80s funk stylings only add to the warm dreaminess of the whole thing. Like it? You can grab Loopback, here.
