Soul producer Bastien Keb previews his debut LP with the "Love Just Died Tonight" [Premiere]
Leamington Spa soul experimenter Bastien Keb has announced his new record Dinking In The Shadows Of Zizou, and its first single "Love Just Died Tonight".
The title references legendary French footballer and cup winner Zinedine Zidane.
Drawing from disparate influeces like Sun Ra, Curtis Mayfield, Flying Lotus, The Meters, and Broadcast, Keb creates a bewitching brew - despite the footballing references, it's less Ant & Dec, and much more 3am electro-jazz flickering with warped '70s pop. The screwball soul mixed with expermental electronics and late-night lounge rekindle memories of The Child Of Lov, but Keb strives for indiviuality with liberal brass lines, hip-hop crunches, and a heady vocal delirium.
Dinking In The Shadows Of Zizou is out 25 September via One-Handed Music. You can pre-order it now via Bandcamp.
