Parisian duo Basic Tape release breakup banger “So Good”
It’s been almost a year in the making, but the newest track from Parisian duo Basic Tape certainly lives up to its name.
"So Good” is a fizzy, danceable kiss-off you’ll immediately want to send to the ex who just wasn’t worth your time
“We wrote the instrumental right before we went to a week of sessions in London,” the band (Ben and Sav) tell us. “And we all agreed on the topic; a breakup theme. English isn’t our first language, and at the time we weren’t really comfortable participating in the lyric-writing process. I think it’s a matter of confidence! Now, we’re getting more and more involved - it’s a really cool process.”
As with earlier releases, they enlisted the help of British lyricists on the track, reaching out to previous collaborators Danny Shah and Mike Kintish. “The musicality of English works best for what we do,” they add, by way of explaining their choice not to write in their native French.
“I think that the music we make is really international. We’re really trying to reach as many people as we can, because sharing music is what we love the most.”
