Oslo's Bae Louie deliver colourful and dynamic pop on new single "Wonderful"
Fresh out of Norway's capital, four-piece Bae Louie's debut single is a summery ode to long-distance love.
Made up of Mirjam Omdal (vocals), Stian Stapnes (drums), Marcus Nilsen (keys) and Arild Strøm (bass), "Wonderful" is a bold opening statement.
While the trilling synths and bouncing percussion take from the '80s, Omdal's vocal is bang up-to-date and not a million miles away from sounding like Rita Ora. It's a comforting, familiar sound yet still sharp as 21st century city pop should be sounding.
"The song is about pros and cons of having a relationship that requires me to regularly buy plane tickets from Norway to my Hawaii based boyfriend," says Omdal, highlighting an all-too common problem (possibly).
A confident start from Bae Louie, we can't wait to hear more from them.
