Watch: BADBADNOTGOOD – “Can't Leave The Night”
Canadian jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD have been collaborating with the likes of Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean for the past few years. They are now set to release their new album, III, and with it, the captivating “Can’t Leave The Night”.
The track is an inherently sinister instrumental affair, slowly building from its minimal dressing of drums, keyboard and electric piano before imploding into an unavoidably captivating fever dream. Ripe with ready-to-sample melodies, the song is visually accompanied by a studio recording shot on VHS. Captioned with often hilarious remarks, the video later switches to HD and is filled with video stereotypes and fleeting images of confetti, lasers, and cars. The band cheekily points out that the only thing missing is emotion, and yet it’s a certain sight to see.
III is released on 5 May via Innovative Leisure.
The band will also be touring Europe in May, with four dates in the UK:
6 May – XOYO, London
7 May – The Exchange. Bristol
9 May – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
10 May – Deaf Institute, Manchester
