Danish duo AyOwA are set to release their debut EP later this month, and ahead of that they've dropped a fantastic new single.
"Fri" (which translates to "Free") finds Nicolai Kornerup and Hannah Schneider in a more playful mode than previous track "RUS" and the brightness really suits the band.
There's an airy, almost romantic, quality to the track; Schneider's vocals are woozily seductive while synths sparkle over sparse, loose beats that draw from both R&B and '80s electro.
While the verses have an almost narcotic feel thanks to a buzzing Boards of Canada-style bass, the chorus is the most uplifting AyOwA has sounded to date. It's delicious and deep dream-pop.
"Fri" is taken from the debut EP Eremit, which is out 19 May via Music For Dreams. AyOwA play two shows at SPOT Festival on 6 May.
