APRE deliver humbling new anthem "Come Down"
APRE have shared their latest single "Come Down", a humbling anthem that lands with a tender message.
Commencing with APRE painting a 'doom and gloom' picture with echoing instrumentals that sound like Big Ben is making its last bell chime, "Come Down" soon moves into a brighter pallette of sounds, introducing a crisp beat and a pensive bassline to shift the opening, ominous chime into the dark.
The guitar melody is far brighter than the picture laid out moments before, and allows Charlie Brown's vocals to project like a beam of light through a heavy tree canopy.
"Come Down" soon moves into anthem territory as the track builds to the chorus with pulses of euphoric orchestral instruments. APRE's Charlie Brown and Jules Konieczny unite on vocals for the huge chorus, which plunges headfirst into a passionate, yet refreshing pool of indie-pop gold.
APRE's new single lands with an equally pensive visual directed by Will Hooper, who also directed APRE's previous single "Gap Year 2008".
Offering some words on the new single, APRE say that track is about "something taking over you that’s out of control; having the realization of that; and trying to get back to where you were. Like everyday life grinding a person away from happiness but them not being able to see it until too late. "Come Down" is cry for those who have pulled someone they love back down from that place."
The duo's new single is their first since releasing their Everyone's Commute EP late last month.
