Anna Meredith returns with fascinating synth and cello composition "Honeyed Words"
Anna Meredith has today unveiled her first new track in over two years, "Honeyed Words".
It's a taster of Meredith's upcoming debut long-player, and despite the name, doesn't actually feature any words.
It's an elegiac bout of electronica; slippery synths slither up and down the register as organic cello alternates between jarring dissonance and total harmony. It's an intriguing composition that melts the boundaries of 'classical' music, diving into the relationships between instruments and even the notes themselves.
French visual artists, illustrator, and filmmaker Laurene Pijulet-Balmer, aka PIJU, has directed the visuals for "Honeyed Words"
The track follows her EPs Black Prince Fury and Jet Black Rider.
Meredith's upcoming debut record is expected Spring 2016 via Moshi Moshi.
