The Anatomy of Frank bare their souls on "Holy Mountain"
Virginia three-piece The Anatomy of Frank have channeled heartbreak and loss into “Holy Mountain", a melancholic folk-rock masterpiece.
Opening line “Oh my friend I guess I knew you well/ Though after all the silence I found it hard to tell” sets the mood for the song, as singer Kyle Woolard reflects on his relationship with an unknown other. Woolard’s vocals are demure at the best of times, softly permeating through the mournful backing track and hitting with an emotional impact that few vocalists manage to pull off in such an unassuming manner.

The Anatomy of Frank’s great achievement on “Holy Mountain” is managing to create a song that comes across as genuinely emotional, rather than trite. The song may be about death and despair, but at no point do these heavy themes overwhelm the music itself, instead working alongside it to create something truly special.
