Amaroun gets to grips with "The Fear" on silvery new single
Northamptonshire's Amaroun is airing new folktronica single "The Fear" on Best Fit.
The track is the singer/songwriter's second single, following "Bedbugs", which appeared in March.
It's a warm, welcoming track despite the title, and it offers a conciliatory tone - it's a shoulder to cry on rather than a harrowing chunk of adraline-coursing menace. It's cathartic in a way, with lo-fi synths and Amaroun's gentle guitars fuzzing against drum vignettes, and her lush vocals floating across the top.
"Bedbugs" and "The Fear" are set to be accompanied by animated videos that "tell a story in an abstract fashion", and join together as Amaroun's debut EP. Expect more soon.
Kristofer Harris (Bear's Den, Clock Opera) produces the single, which is released 27 May.
