Emerging Scandinavian songwriter Amanda Tenfjord starts 2020 strong with “As If”
Returning with her first outing of the year, Norwegian pop artist Amanda Tenfjord continues her ascent with the resilient "As If".
Catching attention across 2019 with thoughtful, tongue-in-cheek power pop moments such as “The Floor is Made of Lava”, Norwegian native Amanda Tenfjord continues the trend with this new, cynical ode to an ex. Entitled “As If”, the track’s surface-level bubblegum-pop feels radio-ready, whilst the lyrics are an unashamed takedown of shitty behaviour within relationships.
A sweeping, dramatic chorus really allows Tenfjord to showcase the power in her vocal, whilst stomping beats and clear harmonies get her resilient message across. With each release, the rising artist builds a further claim as one of the brightest new voices in pop for 2020, and creates more excitement and buzz both within tastemakers and her growing fanbase.
Speaking of the song, Tenfjord commented: "The day I wrote this song I was upset because it hit me that along the way you'll get to know people that you think genuinely care about you as a person, but you slowly realise that that's not the case.
“With that being said, this song is not full of hate,” she continues. “It's not a song to hurt anyone. I made this song to make myself stronger and to realise that I should use my time and energy with those who care, and the ones who make me happy.”
