London duo Alpines reveal the towering “Heaven” ahead of their new album Another River
Emotive R&B band Alpines have revealed the lead track from their forthcoming album, the stripped-down “Heaven”.
Having already made fans of British pop titans including The xx, The Maccabees (RIP) and Florence + The Machine, Alpines' new release finds the band taking a step away from the sound of their 2014 debut Oasis deciding instead to get back to basics.
“Heaven”, an anthem with towering vocal harmonies and a sly bass groove, showcases the band's new sound opting for a “less is more” approach. The track manages to capture an inventive and minimalist atmosphere without compromising on their poppier sensibilities, which are still present in the melody and vocals of singer Catherine Pockson.
This new effort, then, is not so much the sound of a duo finding their feet as it is the sound of an act evolving, subtly refining their craft
Alpines new album Another River is released 28 October via Metropolis Recordings.
