Neon green hair, nods from Annie Mac, and sarcastic remarks about beauty stereotypes - yep, Finnish artist ALMA is off to a good start.
New track (and the title of her brand new EP) "Dye My Hair" takes the additive mellow pop hooks of previous track "Karma" and throws this crazy energy on top. We're talking irresistible tropical beats, smooth, compelling - and oh so slightly grizzly - lead vocals, surging backing beats and seductive synths.
"Dye My Hair" also has this raw emotional defiance behind it, ALMA's voice echoing the kind of simultaneous longing and carefree nature of Robyn. That is to say, she has some real edge.
Dye My Hair EP is out now. Alma will be playing the Hoxton Bar and Grill in London on 15 November.
