"Something About You" is the colourful, attitude-laden return from Norwegian star-in-waiting Alida
Oslo-based singer and artist Alida has been releasing music on and off since 2012, taking time out to become an in-demand behind-the-scenes songwriter in order to make a living. But she's back today with a huge single of her own.
If you've ever heard either "Feathers" or "Cool With It" you'd wonder why Alida isn't riding the crest of a wave along with the likes of Sigrid, but chances are "Something About You" should get a lot more people talking about the Norwegian.
The track is an absolute bop from start to end; the verses belong to Alida's attitude-laden vocals which are accompanied by little more than finger-click percussion, the chorus is a colourful storm of lust and crushing hard, but the standout moment of the track comes in a dancehall-flecked bridge. It's pure euphoria, amping up the dizzying feelings before launching back into the chrorus times ten. It's really, really great.
"'Something About You' is a fun and energetic little tribute to all lovebirds out there," says Alida. "I made it together with Max Thulin and Petter Tarland, aka Professor P, in Stockholm. It was actually our first time working together and we had a blast in the studio trying out all kinds of stuff. The result was this goofy little gem. It’s the kind of song that just makes you happy, and that takes you back to that awkward and overwhelming feeling when you’re crushing over someone but you have no idea what to do or what to say, and you can’t think of anything else."
