Alex Maxwell channels Stevie Nicks in the video for “Signs”
Channelling both the vocal and stage presence of fellow witchy wonder Stevie Nicks, Alex Maxwell releases the video for her single “Signs”.
Taken from her EP of the same name, “Signs” is a euphoric pop track that sees Maxwell’s vocal hover between sweet and powerful throughout.
"I was thinking about how much we must be missing from the real world around us when we are constantly on our phones,” Maxwell explains of the inspiration behind the track. “We are so focused on our appearances, on social media, on who’s texting who and what’s happening on Twitter - I just wanted a chance to pause and remind myself to be present, which was what led me to write “Signs”.
The intense video that accompanies the track flashes between shots of Maxwell and her band performing, and footage of an unidentified man hunted by wolves. “The video is about being a prisoner inside an alternate digital reality,” Maxwell explains. “[There’s] this desire to escape and get back in touch with reality. We had a guy doing all these cool parkour tricks, bouncing off walls and everything! It’s definitely my favourite video I’ve done so far.”
