Perth-based alt-pop five-piece Ah Trees return with “Shark Bait”
Already gaining traction in their native Australia, Ah Trees blend dreamy guitars with danceable bass lines on their new track “Shark Bait”.
Ah Trees describe their sound as “fusing cruisey funk driven indie-pop and moody electronica with tunes that make you want to dance down the hall or drift away on a cloud”, and they certainly deliver the goods on new self-produced song “Shark Bait”.
With shoegaze guitars that threaten to give the likes of DIIV a run for their money (and effects pedals), and vocals reminiscent of MGMT, the song is propelled to the finish line by a pulsing and danceable bass line.
Speaking about the meaning of the song, frontman Ryan Adair says: ‘“There's no doubt we live in an age of fear. ‘Shark Bait’ is all of this burning venom sharpened to a point, a middle finger to all that ails us. The time for metaphors is over, choosing life isn't politics, it's just wanting to live.”
