Aaron Taos drops laid-back new cut "Communication" ahead of Birthday Boy EP
With his new EP due to drop 6 March, Aaron Taos drops another slice of woozy indie-pop to tide over the fans – and inadvertently whetting their appetites for the record arriving next month.
In the vein of previous releases, "Communication" isn't going anywhere fast. Despite its downtempo attitude, Taos' newest single is one of his best yet: his vocals swirling amidst a swirling haze of guitars and analogue-sounding electronics. It's both groovy and nostalgic, the satisfying sonic equivalent of sunlight through leaves on a summer holiday long forgotten.
In conversation with Complex, Taos explained: "'Communication' is about the importance of talking things out with your partner. I'm a pretty open person, so when there's something not sitting right between me and someone (be it lover or friend) I'm quick to want to acknowledge the issue and attempt to fix it. As I mentioned in the song, both my parents are therapists, so blame it on that. In any case, 'Communication' is about the importance of airing things out."
