Listen: A Sunny Day in Glasgow – “Almost Like Emotion (The Drop)” [UK Premiere]
Today marks the release of indie-pop band A Sunny Day in Glasgow’s latest LP via Lefse Records, the evocatively titled Sea When Absent. The Philadelphia/Brooklyn/Sydney-based sextet showcase their evolving dream-pop sound on radiant new track, “Almost Like Emotion (The Drop)”, premiering in the UK on Best Fit.
The band’s musical palette is amply stocked with bright, noisy guitar textures and finely crafted melodies, elements which garnered praise in our recent review of Sea When Absent. Shot through with tendrils of distortion, the song’s fuzzed-out, cloudy skies give way to moments of pure pop sunlight. Airy, layered vocals highlight the tension that exists between craving the comforts of home and harbouring a deep desire to run headlong toward all that shimmers in the distance. Let this be the soundtrack that soars over the landscape of your late summer wandering.
“Almost Like Emotion (The Drop)” appears exclusively on the No Death EP, a limited edition bonus EP on CD format available to those who purchase the Sea When Absent LP at participating record shops.
