New Merge-signings A Giant Dog reveal "Jizzney"
Pile is the new album from Austin-based A Giant Dog - their third in total and their first for quality North Carolina indie Merge Records.
Pushing grizzly themes through a filter of punk spirit and the kind of forward-looking left-field rock we need in 2016, it's set to bring the band to a whole new audience over here.
Ahead of an Autumn tour, the five piece led by Sabrina Ellis have dropped "Jizzney" a via video that's as entertaining and rawkous as it is sinister and surreal. "Shannon, the actor, with his blue eyes and his intensity, he is my favorite part about this video," Ellis says. "I love watching him. In the diner scene, he's just eating and eating, and I'm staring at him over these nachos, and he looks at me, and he laughs"
"That was the only time I've ever seen him smile. I love watching him eat and smile. I'm still watching, Shannon."
Director Daniel Ralston modelled the video after the "unhealthy obsession" in the song. "A weirdo walks into the band's world collecting souvenirs that lead him to the edge of a swimming pool with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist," he tell us.
"I think A Giant Dog are the best kind of weirdos," Ralston adds. "The kind you'd want to hang out with. I wanted to get that into the video. Filming them play a show in their hometown of Austin was a true joy and they are were incredibly cool to work with."
