
A Festival, A Parade enter a new phase with chaotic return "Cold Shower"
The Newcastle alt-rockers first cut from their upcoming EP Stay Away From Me is awash with whirring, frenetic guitars and intelligent, brooding wordplay.
“Counting down the hours on your body clock/ If I was you I’d keep your f***ing distance” exclaims A Festival, A Parade frontman Joe Allan, before razor-sharp riffs frantically cascade and violently entangle in latest single "Cold Shower".
Released via Tipping Point Records and recorded with Paul Gregory (Lanterns On The Lake, Minor Victories, Mastersystem), the track signals a more refined direction for the band’s gloomy brand of fast-paced alt rock, perfectly capturing the psychologically complex mood of Allan’s enigmatic lyricism. It’s a sonic platter of equally pleasing and unnerving textures that bleed effortlessly into one another, as drums pummel along and guitars soar to an abrupt and satisfyingly destructive climax.
It’s a very promising taste of things to come from the EP, which is due in Autumn. In the meantime, the band are gearing up for a bunch of North-East shows, including Hit The North Festival and are also set to play Brighton’s The Great Escape on the 19 May.
