EP Stream: Tropics – Home & Consonance
With intuitive layers of manufactured sounds and sultry, melancholic subtext Tropics has found complete comfort and assurance in the laid-back chill-wave pop he is championing.
In a field that can feel saturated, Southampton’s Chris Ward stands-out; creating dreamy waves of sound that implement careful vocal samples, like those in the late-night ‘Don’t You Know’, alongside his own melodies, the four-track EP is a wonderful example of lush lounge.
One of the most striking features of Home & Consonance, out Monday (29 April) via Five Easy Pieces, is the quality of Ward’s vocal. The eponymous track, as well as ‘Courage’, shrouded in the equally impressive tones of Gavin Turek, offers a melody with all the romance of Rhye before dancing rhythms add energy and excitement to the passion.
Lay back and immerse yourself in the sumptuous instrumentation of Tropics, streaming as a Best Fit Premiere below.
