Stream Fanfare, the new album from Jonathan Wilson
The term ‘friends in high places’ is a bit of an understatement when it comes to Jonathan Wilson. An esteemed musician, songwriter and producer, the North Carolina native has – over the years – worked with such luminaries as Elvis Costello, Robbie Robertson (The Band), Jackson Browne, Erykah Badu… the list goes on.
On new album Fanfare, Wilson gets his past services repaid in grandiose style. Employing the likes of David Crosby, Graham Nash, Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Father John Misty – aka former Fleet Fox Josh Tillman – what beholds is thirteen songs that are finely attuned to an artist fully in bloom – both creatively and professionally. This is far more than a who’s who album though. Wilson should be celebrated for his craft as an artist in his own right and indeed, one who doesn’t suffer to trends or hype.
Put simply, Fanfare is as finely crafted an album of classic songwriting you’re likely to hear all year. Stream it in full, days before its official release through Bella Union, below.
