Stream: Rainer – Hope / Satin / Glass / Dreams EP
Brilliant future-pop outfit Rainer have really hit the ground running this year. Ex-Stricken City’s Rebekah Raa and producer Nic ‘Casually Here’ Nell bonded through late night listening to music together and their first offerings – including the sublimely awesome “Girls” – piqued our interest from the get-go.
They cite “music to listen to staring out of the window of a night bus on the way home to, or walking home through the empty streets and estates around Elephant and Castle” as a key influence and their new four track EP continues to showcase their sometimes beautifully jarring meshes of sonic opposition.
Sprightly pop crashes heavily agains a darker and more brooding dub, with hints of red-eyed club nights, an excess of emotional weight and just enough of a messed up sexual undercurrent to balance the whole package out (ie it’s pretty awesome).
Listen to the full EP below and pick up a copy on 25 November (via Kissability Records). A limited edition 10″ is up for pre-order on Rainer’s bandcamp and there’s an EP launch show at London’s Sebright Arms on 28 November.
