Italian-born, Oxford-based Catalano shares immersive electronic album, Patience, Perseverance
Catalano hypnotised us last month with his electronic wizardry on "Whenever Something Is Broken, You Just Throw It Away".
The Oxford-based Italian, real name Gabriele Catalano, might appear fresh on the scene but his debut album is the fruit of 18 months' hard labour.
When not playing as a bassist/backing vocalist of Oxford's Americana stalwarts Toliesel, Catalano is hunched over his desk spouting proggy, melodic electronica with an intelligent mind and a tuneful ear.
Speaking about the album, Catalano says: “I feel as if this album was not something that I intended to do, but more of an actual necessity that I had. I have started way too many projects, and way too many songs in my life that eventually got scrapped.
"It came to a point where the need to communicate something with the external world finally overcame my scatterbrained disposition. I learnt that patience is the art of waiting for good things to happen, whereas perseverance is the art of making good things happen. And I realised that this dualism was what really permeates this album.”
Patience, Perseverance is released on 26 October 2015 via One Note Forever Records. Pre-order digitally. He headlines The Library, Oxford for the album launch on 11 November, supported by fellow Italian artists Machweo and Bruno Belissimo.
