Oxford multi-instrumentalist Cameron A G makes his mark with debut Way Back Home EP
Following-on from his impressive brace of initial releases and ahead of a London show at the ever-buzzy George IV on Thursday, Cameron A G is streaming his brilliant debut EP Way Back Home.
The Oxford multi-instrumentalist appeared at the end of 2015 with Radio 1’s Annie Mac premiering “Lost Direction” as her Hottest Record. He also really caught our eye with the EP's title track back in February.
Way Back Home EP is a gently melancholic, thoughtful release with its two previously unheard cuts showing-off further signs of his knack for classic, heartfelt songwriting. “Double Knot” once again nods to the likes of Tobias Jesso Jr. and more recently the equally exciting newcomer Matt Maltese.
“Hold Your Crown”, with its twanging guitar refrain and satisfying cadences, highlights a gently poppier edge to his work, providing light to the gorgeous shade elsewhere. “First one in and last to leave/but I don’t mind,” he pines, in a typical moment of relatability.
Live sets at The Great Escape and Live At Leeds are on the horizon for an artist fully finding his feet, and in an increasingly competitive genre Cameron A G is entirely at home.
