Jim James shouldn’t be a stranger to anybody ’round these parts. Frontman of My Morning Jacket and nu-Americana supergroup Monsters Of Folk (just think: ‘Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young of alt-folk’), James has decided to venture alone for a little while with this upcoming solo release.
His first lone effort to date, if you ignore his George Harrison covers EP under the oh-so-cryptic moniker of ‘Yim Yames’, the record is hardly a huge leaps from all that has come before. It is, however, James boiled down to his core, a restless mind laid bare.
