Album Stream: Chrome Sparks – Sparks
Ann Arbor, Michigan’s production boy wonder and moonlighting drummer for the band Stepdad, Jeremy Malvin aka Chrome Sparks released his fantastic Sparks EP today. Listeners first got a taste of what the young producer had been up to with his release of the single, ‘Marijuana’, not long after his track, ‘Bring The Pain’ premiered on Pitchfork, and last week our favorite song off the EP, ‘Luna Luxor’ appeared on Ryan Hemsworth’s FADER Mix.
Featuring Malvin’s own lovely vocals and live drumming, Sparks does a brilliant job of introducing listeners to his niche sound, while venturing out into new territory showing his growth as an artist since his 2011 debut release, My <3.
The EP as a whole is an aqueous, ethereal experience melding signature vintage video game sounds with delicate layers of soft pulsing light, tiny twinkling bells and swirling quirks of synthesizer effects to create this underwater treasure trove filled with sparkling, musical gems. The deeper you explore, the greater the discovery.
You can pre-order Chrome Sparks limited edition white 12″ vinyl of Sparks, shipping April 30th from his bandcamp.
