Little White Things arrive with “Step Back”
Music brings people together, we all know that. Festivals around the world see strangers become friends based solely on a mutual admiration for a song, a band or a genre. For David Behan and Max Bergstrom, this mutual admiration was the catalyst for the formation of Little White Things.
Behan and Bergstrom - from Ireland and Sweden respectively - met at an East London after-party, and the resulting conversation proved pivotal. Now, signed to the ever-impressive Chess Club Records (MØ, Billie Marten, Sundara Karma, Pumarosa), the pair are embracing the inspirations that brought them together.
The track pulls on their shared love of 60's psychedelia but most importantly puts Behan's obvious knack for melody centre-stage: it's an unrelentingly infectious outing from the very opening thanks to an inspired "Ooh aah" refrain that will cement itself between the ears from first listen.
Woozy, gently hypnotic production - complete with chimes and heavily effected guitars - creates something of an MGMT, Empire Of The Sun hue, with subtle, cold sense of sadness to pack a punch on top of this immediate and undeniable catchiness.
"Step Back" and admire this beautifully crafted piece of folk-leaning psych pop, premiering today at Best Fit; share our mutual admiration below.
"Step Back" will be released on 27 November via Chess Club Records. Little White Things will make their London headline debut at MOTH CLUB on 23 November - tickets available here.
