It’s with great sadness that we report the passing of The Doors’ Ray Manzarek, who died yesterday at a hospital in in Rosenheim, Germany.
The band’s keyboardist, Manzarek was also their co-founding member – starting the group with Jim Morrison in 1965. He is known for being integral to their sound, replacing the position of a bassist in the group.
After Morrison’s death, Manzarek proceeded to release a handful of solo albums before collaborating with Iggy Pop, Echo and the Bunnymen plus others.
The cause of his death is cited as being bile duct cancer. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.
