Track By Track: Scavenger Hunt on their Shapes and Outlines EP
Scavenger Hunt are an LA-based pop duo, whose music is often euphoric, but always intriguing. Here, they talk us through the 80s-infused sounds of their most recent EP, Shapes and Outlines.
Sweet Talk
There's an interesting yin and yang to this song. Sonically it's very pop - uplifting and positive - but lyrically it's about feeling stuck and frustrated, feeling like your voice isn't being heard. I really love songs that have double meanings and aren't afraid to show a little honesty.
River Runs Dry
The day "River Runs Dry" was written, we were seeking to write something that still felt like Scavenger Hunt, but had a darker tone and edge to it. This is our anthem for anyone who is doing something they believe in, even if it's going against the grain. As artists and creators, there are high highs and low lows, but if you really believe in what you're doing, you do not give up the fight.
Slow Dancing
We wrote this on a rainy day off from tour in NYC. There was something about being in NYC - the weather and being on the road - that inspired this track, our power ballad on the album. I've always been fascinated with dreams, and how we can't control who sometimes - or continually - shows up in them.
Never Enough
This is a song we wrote a while ago, but weren't able to capture the way it felt when we play it live, until this record. I love the message of this track- the first phrase of the song encapsulates its meaning, "Is there something in between, what I want and what I need?"
