Yung Electronica Española
Rising Bilbao-based producer RRUCCULLA - who plays the next edition of our Madrid club night later this month - chooses five artists you need to hear from the new Spanish dance scene.
SKYGAZE
"Jaime Tellado aka SKYGAZE, is one of the producers that I look up to the most from the current Spanish electronic music scene. His productions are glowy and jazzy, with crispy abstract rhythms, strong basses, sweet melodies and ambient passages. People can relate his downtempo style to Flying Lotus and L.A. beat scene artists. He really is a pro."
Wi-Fiji
"Wi-Fiji’s productions can be sum up as PC music-esque sounding, future beats, wiry technological noises, sugary and addictive tunes. Some of his tracks have already sound abroad, in well-known musical communities such as Rinse Fm. Nowadays, Wi-Fiji can be found performing at 'Jazzz' events based in Madrid, a new-electronic music collective where he takes part on. Go check his futuristic gems on Soundcloud."
Huias
"Huias is a trip-hop trio from Gijón. Their music is a blending of futuristic hip-hop beats, folk music, dark R&B vocals submerged in a relaxed ambiences. Personally, I really like the hidden details of their musical productions that one can discover in each listen. "
Zora Jones
"Zora Jones is a Barcelona-based DJ/producer, known internationally due to her project and creative platform, Fractal Fantasy along with Sinjin Hawke She displays her footwork-canon music with experimental dark textures, digital ambience and icy-grime-influenced-beats. Her sound-design skills are impressive, as well as admirable, which I find that can take you into very unique places."
Bad Gyal
"Bad Gyal is a young performer and one of the most relevant artist of the current Spanish trap music scene. She sings about empowering women, independence, sentiments and sex in a very honest manner. Besides, in her lyrics she mixes Catalan, English and Spanish languages. Badgyal bangers varies from an exciting mixture of jamaican-inspired dancehall, rap and electronic beats."
