GOSS shares his inspirations ahead of this week's appearance at the Ja Ja Ja club night
Returning after their traditional summer break, Ja Ja Ja are back at London's The Lexington this Thursday - with the help of VEVO - and have lined up Emma Jensen, GOSS and Many Voices Speak to perform at their Nordic bonanza.
Today, we've got Denmark's GOSS telling us all about what inspires his music.
1
Love
"I think I might be too inspired by love. I actually have a problem in the sense that I have trouble writing songs about anything else than love. I would love to write more political songs for instance. But I can't. These days I can only write about love. I was alone for 10 years before meeting my girlfriend. When I met her it opened up spaces in me where I had never been before. And also love connect really well musicly with the souly vibe I'm staying inside at the moment."

Yangze - "U and Me"
"This song is made by a friend of mine. He also plays guitar and sampler with me when I play live with Goss. Its the first song he has ever realeased as a solo artist. The song really touches me. Its almost like a future interpretation of a Moby song. Like a weird field recording of an Avatar singing or something. Or it could be a mermaid sitting on a stone in the sun serenading in a strange Japanese cartoon. I somehow think this is the true psychedelic music of our time. I like how it is super repetitive in its form but it keeps evovlving and taking you through different feelings within the feeling. I always get really happy and inspired when people around me get closer to their expression."

Autumn
"It is the time of the year where I write the best and the most songs. In the last part of the summer I start noticing the changes. How the light changes. How the air and the smells change. How the energy in people change. And suddenly its there full-on and the songs come popping out. Kinda like apples falling at the same time every year. It's as if my senses are maxed out too. Alert on a higher level or something. I tried living in Los Angeles for a while (where it is endless summer) and a thing that really struck me when I came back was how I use the seasons to store memories but even more to bring them back."
4
Rihanna
"Because she is the greatest singer on the planet right now. No doubt."
5
Blues guitar
"I am currently obsessed with blues guitar and blues music that is really sexy. Artists like Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour. There is no doubt that these musicians and their guitar style have already had their place in the history of music. And I'm surely not the first guy to be influenced by them. But I am experimenting with putting that guitar style into other contexts at the moment. I really want to use the vibe in a new way. I can't get enough of it."
