After Hours: Malcolm Middleton
Would you believe it, a new feature on TLOBF! We’ve put our thinking caps on and come up with this – After Hours – a means of finding out what those mysterious bands and artists get up to outside of the day job. What do they watch? Do they spend hours on Facebook? We find out so you’re better informed… First up is the Prince of Depression: Malcolm Middleton who’s Sleight Of Heart album was recently released and embarks on a tour of the UK NOW (dates belows)…
Who’s your favourite new band at the moment?
Slow Club.
What’s been the best album you’ve heard in the last 12 months?
“Cease To Begin” by Band Of Horses
What was the last book you read?
“If On A Winter’s Night A Travellar” by Italo Calvino
What was the last film your saw in the cinema?
The Amber Spyglass…
If push came to shove, what’s your all-time favourite song?
“Frederick” by Patti Smith
MP3 / CD / Vinyl: what’s your format of choice?
Grudgingly mp3 but I hate it. My cd player’s broken and life is too fast for vinyl at the moment.
What’s the best TV show you’re currently following?
Prison Break. It’s shit, but compelling shit.
What one piece of criticism has stuck in your mind and was it justified?
“Middleton shows off impressive acoustic guitar skills oddly reminiscent of a young Paul Simon” – The Times. Now there’s really no need for sticking the boot in that much.
What one thing has caused you to waste your free time in the past 6 months?
Prison Break. Wikipedia. Debbie. Doubt. Not in that order.
Do you follow any type of sport? If so, who’s your “home team”?
I support my legs because they support me.
What’s your poison?
My body seems to long for addiction to anything that conspires towards it’s eventual ruin. Ok, sorry, right now it’s Cadbury’s mini-eggs.
We’d like you to make us a mix-tape. Pick five tracks with a theme of your choice.
Theme is “I Love You & I Miss You”
“Black & Gold” by Sam Sparro
“Lah-Di-Dah” by Jake Thackray
“Walking For Two Hours” by The Twilight Sad
“Baby I’m Just A Fool” by Spiritualized
“A Last Straw” by Robert Wyatt
