20 Questions with Tilly and the Wall
Well, they might have got tid of their tap-dancing (which is a bit of a shame), but Tilly and the Wall still craft some danceable pop tunes. Hot off the back of releasing their latest album, O, and appearing at Moshi Moshi’s recent birthday bash, we got the band to answer our 20 Questions…
1. Describe your sound in 3 words.
Folky poppy, punk.
2. What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
Purple Rain Soundtrack. Got it at the local record store, downtown Lincoln.
3. What’s the best cure for a hangover?
Down two asprin with water and watch a funny movie while dozing off on the couch.
4. What’s on your rider?
Pickles, Cereal, Soy Milk, Fruit, houmous, salsa and chips.
5. How do you get ready for a live show?
We all do a huddle and a short pep talk before raging onto the stage.
6. What’s your favourite song to play live?
This really depends on the day. Pot Kettle Black was really fun to do on this last tour because it is so new. It’s fun to try out new songs live.
7. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Miley Cyrus
8. Who would win in a fight, a stoat or a goat and why?
A stoat. Sharper teeth.
9. Who’s your favourite new band at the moment? Tell us a bit about them.
Capgun Coup…they are awesome. They are from Omaha and are on Team Love Records. Great guys.
10. Who would play you in a film based upon your life?
HA! I have no idea. Maybe Miley. We both have husky voices.
11. Dead or alive, what 5 acts would you have play with you at a festival?
Neutral Milk Hotel, CSS, The Cure, The Smiths, The Ramones
12. If push comes to shove, what is your all-time favourite album?
Airplane Over the Sea, Neutral Milk Hotel
13. What’s your most memorable on the road story?
Getting to dance and sing, “Girls Just Want to have Fun” on stage with Cyndi Lauper in Tokyo at the Summer Sonic Festival.
14. If your life flashed before your eyes, what would be the highlights?
Time with friends and family.
15. What’s the best piece of advice someone has ever given you and did you take notice?
Be nice to people. Yeah, I think I took notice.
16. If you had to leave a body part to science, what would it be?
Maybe the whole shebang.
17. What’s the best book you’ve read and film you’ve seen in the last 6 months?
Um….can’t answer this very well. I have been obsessed with finishing up the last season of Arrested Development. It has taken precedence over literature and film at this point.
18. What three things could you not live without?
My three favorite things…my friends, my family and food.
19. Tell us a fact about yourself we probably don’t already know.
I love yoga.
