20 Questions with… Fujiya & Miyagi
Fujiya & Miyagi released their comeback single ‘Knickerbocker’ on 25th August, which was followed by their third album Lightbulbs this very Monday on Full Time Hobby. The band head out on a full UK tour from 18th September. So, with all this activity, what better time to catch up with the main man David Best to see what they make of our inqusitive 20 Questions…
1. Describe your sound in 3 words.

2. What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
Shakin Stevens & Bonnie Tyler – ‘That’s A Rockin’ Good Way (To Mess Around & Fall In Love)’ at Woolworths.
3. What’s the best cure for a hangover?
Coca cola
4. What’s on your rider?
Crisps, water, beer. I think somebody put fruit on but it rarely gets eaten.
5. How do you get ready for a live show?
I make sure my guitar is in tune.
6. What’s your favourite song to play live?
’Cassettesingle’ because I don’t have to sing.
7. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Fox’s crinkles classic biscuits
8. Who would win in a fight, a stoat or a goat and why?
A goat because once a blow was struck the stoat would be stunned and the goat could stamp on it.
9. Who’s your favourite new band at the moment? Tell us a bit about them.
Project Jenny Project Jan from Brooklyn. We played with them last year in the states and they are coming over to play with us in September in the UK and Ireland. Musically they combine lots of different styles and lyrically they write about interesting subjects.
10. Who would play you in a film based upon your life?

13. What’s your most memorable on the road story?
Steve was surfing the baggage trolley in San Francisco airport and fell over but couldn’t let go of it so he got carpet burns on his knuckles. He really hurt himself.
